About

What Cheer? began selling antiques, vintage + vinyl records in 1998.  We closed our retail shop in May of 2017, but are still at it, selling online and at events we organize called Rock + Roll Yard Sales held in RI and the Boston area.

We also DJ special events such as weddings, parties, etc. as the What Cheer DJs, spinning vinyl records of most eras and genres upon request.  We’ve also joined 75orLESS Community Radio and do a weekly show called the What Cheer Radio Hour where we play selections from our very own personal record collection.  Listen in to us, DJ-JD, and Batboy Slim, every Sunday!  Find our show by clicking here.  Book the What Cheer DJs by emailing us:  whatcheerio@gmail.com

What Cheer? began back in 1998 with a booth at the legendary and now-defunct This + That Shop on Wickenden Street, and then we opened up our own shop in 1999 at our first location on S. Angell Street in Wayland Square, where we remained for 13 Years until losing our lease.  We then relocated to Thayer Street in 2012 where we remained until getting squeezed out by a greedy visionless landlord in 2017.  We now sell records, vintage and antiques through several online sites (Discogs, Etsy and eBay) and we’re also open by appointment at our work space in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and in an exciting twist, we now actually have our very own retail outlet in the very building our business began at 236 Wickenden Street, Providence, RI 02903, which was the This + That Shop but is now a 3 story vintage / antique group shop called Nostalgia.
